Hoa Tràng An Performs in a Hanoi Recording Studio
Hoa Tràng An was founded in 1996 by Thanh Dán, inspired by the deep love for traditional music that she shares with the other members of the ensemble. Over the past decade, they have performed their powerfully feminine renditions of Vietnamese folk music in China, Thailand, Japan, and Germany, in addition to frequent performances at home in Vietnam. This performance was filmed during the recording sessions for Hoa Tràng An’s album, Ancient Flower, released on Earthville Music.

Dan Pallotta: The Way We Think About Charity Is Dead Wrong
Activist and fundraiser Dan Pallotta shines a light on the double standard that drives US society’s broken relationship to charities. Too many nonprofits, he says, are rewarded for how little they spend — not for what they get done. Instead of equating frugality with morality, he asks us to start rewarding charities for their big goals and big accomplishments (even if that comes with big expenses). In this bold talk, he says: Let’s change the way we think about changing the world.
